The Dawkter's Wife - It's all champagne and caviar now … dahling

The Loony Bin

And without further ado….

It’s done! After 6 rounds of editing and a mini-tantrum that I had with the publisher where I admonished them for not doing their job properly (Hey … don’t insert formatting errors or add words when you go to make a simple correction) they finally got it finished.  The process was both frustrating and validating.  With the initial publication of Surviving Residency, I had been shocked to discover problems like backwards apostrophes, removed indentations, words running together/or missing completely.  I wondered how on earth those things had made it through the editing process.

Now I know.

The jobs have been outsourced to India.  Though the people that I worked with had names like Tom or Jane, talking with them quickly verified for me that they aren’t native english speakers.  I imagine that this is like asking ME to edit/make changes on a text in Hindi.  Actually, even if you asked me to edit something in German (which I speak pretty fluently for an American) I would make grammatical mistakes.

After all was said and done though, we got the interior formatting and errors corrected.  Once the book arrived on my doorstep though, I realized that they omitted one small detail on the cover … the words Second Edition! LOL  Holy buckets.

I decided to let it go.  I’m really satisfied with the result and I am also eternally grateful to my good friend Heidi for her cover art.

The book is now available for pre-order at Amazon.  It will be ready for the Kindle/Nook and other e-reader formats within the next week or two!

So …. if you know anyone embarking on the medical training years, please let them know that the second edition is ready to roll!  I have made a lot of changes to the interior and I hope that this will really be helpful to those who need encouragement and support as they face the training years.

As a shameless request, can I also beg you to like it on Facebook and add a review if you find it helpful! :)

  1. Congrats Kris!
