Surviving Cancer,The Loony Bin

My new  doctor’s nurse called today.

“Your CT is abnormal.  Dr. L has discussed it with Dr. Asshole (pulmonologist who treated me so badly 2 years ago), and he wants to see you.  Pulmonology will be calling you.”

“Uh.  OK.”

Pulmonology called later in the day.

“This is the nurse for Dr. Asshole.  He would like to see you as soon as possible.  How about Wednesday.”

“I’m having surgery Wed.”

“How about Thursday?  Wait.  Let me get back to you.”

“Is this really necessary?  Has he actually looked at the CT scan or is this going to be another opportunity for him to drag me in and then suggest we follow it.  I’m very busy.”

“He wants to schedule a bronchoscopy.”

” He is on ICU during July.”

“I can wait until August.”

“No, we aren’t going to wait on this.”

Wow.  OK.

I honestly don’t think it will actually come to a bronchoscopy.  The deep rattle is much better again.  Hopefully, this will just be a chance for me to show off my almost 70 pound weight loss.

Another day, another drama…

  1. You are having surgery Wednesday?? For what??? Do you need help, Kris? Seriously, I will book a ticket.

  2. Meh. Nothing serious. I have surgical scars that have developed several painful nodules. They feel like pebbles under my skin. When I had my hand surgery, the plastic surgeon took a look and asked me 1. what the heck they were and 2. why the heck I hadn’t had them revised sooner. You probably remember that they are pretty wide. I just have been too big of a chicken to go in and have anything done about it. He convinced me that he could do a nice job and make them look much nicer and get rid of the nodules.

So…it is outpatient, general anesthesia, next Wed. Andrew has his first Baseball game at 7pm that night, and I plan on being there … I think I can manage.

You WILL come this summer. And. It will be for fun, not to help! ;) I was even thinking of where we could meet in the middle that would be a fun place for the kiddos and give us a chance to catch up. I miss you.

  3. Okay. Let’s meet in the middle somewhere. Tell me where and when, and I will drive and meet you. My kids are out of school June 9th. They are going to Utah for a few weeks in July. June would be awesome, but if you can’t do then, we’ll figure something out. Anywhere you want to meet, I’ll be there. I’m not afraid of a little driving!

I hope the surgeon does a great job on your scar.

I hope you have a great birthday! Maybe you’re celebrating at Space Aliens right now.
